A fascinating tale is that of a fluffy, black and white wolf. Arrow was born into slavery, the product of a Nemateelu mother and a Kaparo Shifter father. Two conflicting races that did not get along, and fought even harder against each other in a ring of combat. The Masters who owned them, took note of the pair’s hatred for each other. They also took note of the raw potential that the pair had in the arena. Bloodshed was a given and when fighting others, each wolf had one hell of a winning streak. A massive, dragon winged Nemateelu, Garrit… And a Kaparo with a nasty attitude and even nastier bite, River… A pairing between the two would surely bring upon one hell of a warrior.
With hopes of creating something that couldn’t be beaten in the arena, a breeding between Garrit and River was forced, much to the chagrin of both involved. Arrow was born during one of the worst storms the island had ever seen. The Masters were certain it was the Gods of War proclaiming this new pup the most powerful warrior they had seen… Then Arrow was born…
A tiny, sickly little thing with feathery wings and a weak cry. He was quickly taken away from Garrit before the dominant Nema ate the thing in protest… So disgusted with this sickly looking, pale pup that they were prepared to throw it out into the rain and leave it for scavengers…
Neither parent was likely to step in… The Kaparo way is to kill halfbreeds and their offending parents. The Nemateelu way is not to trust halfbreeds for their uncertain and uncontrollable abilities. The only thing that would save the pup would be a moment of weakness from the still exhausted mother and hormonal induced sympathy for his pup. The Nemateelu pointed out that there were plenty of young Nema who would nurse the thing and its unique black and white colors were rather catching. The Masters looked at the crying thing, shrugged and tossed him to a young Nemateelu who had just lost his pup to the Winter Sickness.
Arrow never knew any different of a life. He learned the trade of servitude. He did as he was told. He learned Nemateelu ways from his 'mother'. No longer the sickly pup he grew into a competent young wolf. He had just reached the age of adulthood when his world changed. His true mother stepped forward. Asked the Master's a favor. One Arrow couldn't understand. Send him away. He never noted the way the Masters now looked at him or his blood mother's concern. Just that he was being separated from Shade. The mother who raised him. Shade told him to be brave. To be polite. Be willing. He fell into true hell then.
Arrow got by for quite some time with his purely upbeat and happy attitude. He didn’t know much, but he was so willing he wasn’t punished often for not knowing how to do something. He was bought, and returned twice, the second ending with abandonment before he was purchased by the first Master who put real training into him. Under his Master’s teaching he was taught how to stand, how to respond to commands, how to carry himself and much more. Under his teachings he learned things like household management, languages, he mastered the art of the piano and later violin. He became a harem slave that was worth keeping around…
Then his hybrid status caught up to him…
While training in the jungle, a guard approached to see just what he was doing… Startled, Arrow’s ability of a fire starter reared up and the guard was left charred. With the guard dead, his Master stood in for him, asking that he not be executed… But that was the only help the wolf was going to get. He was publicly punished, flayed alive and his wings removed. That was only the beginning of his punishment as the guards then handed him over to his Master’s care. He was stripped of any promotion that he had received in his Master’s home, his name taken away and for the time cast out of his Master’s home… He was wrapped in barbed wire, salt rubbed into the wounds and made to apologize to every guard in the Tether… Who took delight in furthering the poor wolf’s punishment. His body gave out, long before the punishment ended.
He was welcomed back into his Master’s home but his brief reprieve was cut short as business took his Master away from the island. What should have been a short trip turned into one long enough that Arrow was pulled back into the Tether’s hold… Not a good thing, considering they remembered him a the guard killer. Fortunately he didn’t stay there long, briefly whisked away from the Tether. He was taught things that a slave should never learn, dealing into history and politics… He fell in love with the man who took him away from the pain of the Tether… But a brief return would be his undoing. His Master after so long had returned. Out of loyalty, Arrow quickly took the collar again, because this was the only life he knew. But the stress was too much. He didn’t even know he was carrying a pup, but he certainly knew when he lost it…
He shoved his pain down and threw himself into his Master’s business. He ran his Master’s business at the Tether for a time, transporting and delivering wine, dealing with the sellers and providers, the wolf quickly learning the trade and all who dealt in it. The wolf became a creature of business very quickly, his soft smile charming those who purchased the product… But eventually, he found himself alone again as word passed down that his Master would not be returning to the island. To sell his assets. Which included Arrow…
Arrow once again found himself behind bars, and none of his contacts were able to help him. A proper harem slave now, but still just as disdained by the guards. He was purchased once more by a strange woman. For a short time he thought this might be his saving grace… But it was short lived as he was once more abandoned in the Tether’s walls, his funding cut off and his future uncertain. With that, he was claimed one more time… By a massive wolf who scared the hell out of him. But, fortunately it would seem this is where the wolf would settle in. He is cared for and provided for… The rules are even a bit more loose than they have been in the past.
He was removed from the danger of the Tether and now the social butterfly of a wolf is just rebuilding his life and moving on to be a good slave and a generally good person. He’s given up any hope of reclaiming his life among his family. Hopefully he’s working his way into one though.
